This shows the comparison between a magnetogram made from the Stokes spectra derived from a single IVM observation and a magnetogram made from the Stokes spectra averaged over 15 IVM observations. The field is centered at N18, E00; the ability to detect tranvserse fields in the plage so close to disk center shows the advantage of multiple observations of a single region. On this particular day more than 80 observations are available, thus a movie of averaged magnetograms of this sensitivity is possible.
For additional perspective, the Haleakala Stokes Polarimeter observation of this region on this date is also shown. The single HSP observation required 2 hours to complete and is the only observation available for this region/date.
