IVM SPECIAL OBSERVATIONS DATA TAPES

	The times of each magnetogram/mosaic are available on SPAM.
	Tapes earlier than September 22, 1995 are not yet listed.

	The last special observation data tape was made 10 Oct 1997.
	The IVM single board computer failed on 28 Oct 1997.
	The replacement external computer, in use from 26 Jan 1998 to 
	16 Apr 98, was not programmed for recording to tape.
	The new external computer, part of the datasystem upgrade,
	records all observations to disk and they are included
	in the normal archive tapes beginning 17 Apr 1998.

	Special observation tapes were written in simple raw format.
	Each magnetogram is a separate tape file.  The tape blocksize
	is 16384 bytes.  To read one magnetogram, use the Unix command

		dd ibs=16384 if=/dev/rmt/Xn of=diskfile

	where the tape drive read is  /dev/rmt/Xn  and the disk file written
	is  diskfile .  All magnetogram files have a dual header,
	with 128 bytes of magic header, then 2048 bytes of OBLK header.
	The true filename is saved as ASCII in bytes 832 - 846 of the
	OBLK; it can be read and used to name the disk file correctly.
