Mees Distributed Data Archive Update

Except for IVM and MCCD data archive update, archive policy and data distribution

IVM Archive Update

	Five boxes of tapes and other related materials arrived in Manoa on 
	November 22 2005. They are mostly IVM exabyte and Mammoth tapes. 
	Boxes are shipped by Dr. David Rust on behalf of Dr. Barry LaBonte. We 
	archived the IVM tapes along with some of IVM tapes kept in Manoa by 
	Jing Li (see "Data Locator" at http://www.solar.ifa.hawaii.edu/Reference/data.html).  

	The tapes indicated at APL in "Data Locator" at URL http://www.solar.ifa.hawaii.edu/Reference/data.html
	should be in Manoa from now on as the result of the archive. The 
	archived data tapes range from January 1992 to April 2002. 

	Possible Missing Data: The biggest data gap is between September 1998
	and March 1999 in IVM data archive. No IVM tapes are found during this 
	period.

MCCD Update

	1. Present database
		Permanent archive still at Montana
		Approx 6 months overlap in 1996 at Manoa
		Approx 15 months of 1999 to 2001 data at Manoa for copying

	2. Present media production and storage
		Exabytes written at Mees, mailed to Manoa

	3. Changes to media production/distribution
		Redirect original tapes back to Montana effective 18-Jul-2001
		Future transition to DvD TBD.

	4. Changes to media storage
		BJL will take the original tapes at Manoa to JHUAPL, 
		finish copying and forward to Montana

	5. Future data access
		RCC will be the keeper of the Montana archive
		He will respond to requests with a copy or original, best way
